Miscellany

[Ensenada] Window display, apparently getting ready for the Day of the Dead

[Ensenada] One of many local pharmacies...

[Ensenada] ... had a very nice picture on the Viagra advertising board

[Near Pichilingue] Labor Party, according to the logo apparently Bolshevik-focused, is promoting Magda on the rock

[Padre Kino] Mr. Sanchéz - candidate for the PRD, a Mexican political party. ('prd' in Czech means 'fart' – possibly an apt name for a political party!)

[Ciudad Insurgentes] Another political party which Czech voters would really appreciate! ('prs' in Czech means 'breast')

[Santa Rosalia] Something that looks like a shark's fin being dried in the backyard

[Mulegé] House perfoliated by a tree

[Near Ciudad Constitution] Mexican-style wayside shrine, with innovative roof from a car wreck

[Near El Cien] Folk creativity in religious signs is very effective in Mexico

[Near Ojo de Agua] Folk creativity, religious picture on the rock

[Pichilingue] Naval base named after John of Nepomuk

[Pichilingue] These are not jail cells for unruly sailors, but cages for traveling dogs

[Mazatlán] The name of the pub is "Czech Corner"

[Mazatlán] Public transport does not bother with unnecessary niceties, but paints the routes directly on the windshield

[Mazatlán] A large number of totally irregular taxis drive through the city, whistling instead of honking at potential clients

[Tepic] You have to look down at your feet when walking on the sidewalk, or you might trip over something, for example, the low street lighting on the ground.

[Tepic] Incredible items can sometimes be found in the street, things I have not seen for years in the Czech Republic, such as discarded cattle horns on a piece of the head

[Tequila] Street stall

[Tequila] Street stall

[Tequila] Street stall

[Tequila] This little girl, aged about 10 years, also ran her business; I felt sorry for her so I bought peanuts from her and subsequently threw them away, they were old and moldy

[Guadalajara] Soldiers and cops having a good time in Mexico - Metropolitan Police showing off in bulletproof vests and with automatic rifles

[Guadalajara] Officers on bikes don't show off with guns – they are of more use to ordinary people

[Guadalajara] Public typists typing documents for clients on mechanical typewriters

[Near Chilchota] Due to the suitable soil, unburned bricks – adobe – are manufactured in this area

[Uruapan] Intersections with the same street names can be found in most Mexican cities, Constitución Street nearly always joining the company

[Morelia] One of the lesser known churches; I was attracted by the decoration of the pulpit - as teenagers, my friends and I drew something similar in chalk on the wall of our elementary school which we had attended for 9 years

[Turning to Tzitzio] It is a paradise to lie on your back - and the best place for it is in Parada, as we Spanish-speaking say, at a bus stop

[Near Macho del Agua] I take photos on the paid highway from Zitacuaro to Toluca and, by chance, document the offense of someone driving over an unbroken line

[Toluca] Sugar skulls are bestsellers before the Day of the Dead

[Toluca] Death can also be life-size and inflatable

[Toluca] The optimistically colored dog finally matches the blouse of his mistress

[Near Toluca] The Day of the Dead approaches, the first pumpkin-sellers appear

[Mexico City] Street sale - a nice gift for a little girl, a dead doll in a cute coffin

[Mexico City] The cycle track in José Ma. Izazaga Street is designed so that cars are unable to park on it

[Mexico City] Paseo de la Reforma – city bike stand - a special card is needed for renting a bike

[Mexico City] Museo de Arte Moderno - the most famous painting by Frida Kahlo - Los Dos Fridas (The Two Fridas)

[Xochimilco] Sale of freshly caught fish directly from the hand cart

[Cholula] Antiquated bikes are still used and perhaps even manufactured in Mexico

[Cholula] If I were in the ÈSSD, I would not allow the logo of my political party to be stolen and would take this to Court

[Near Tehuitzingo] Country cemetery, long-term holiday cottages in the background, actually eternal recreation

[Huajuapan de Leon] Caged birds can be found on almost every hotel patio

[Oaxaca] Palacio de Gobierno - poster exhibition - Mexican poster for Janáèek’s Jenùfa, with all the diacritics in the correct places

[El Tule] Famous El Árbol del Tule – 1500-year old tree, which locals claim to be the biggest in the world and which they are trying to get under UNESCO protection

[Cintalapa] Alcohol-sellers here in the South got tough and now sell exclusively through the bars

[Tuxtla Gutierrez] City center sidewalk 100 meters from the Cathedral; at night it is poorly lit, so drunks can then climb out of the hole with that pole

[San Cristobal de las Casas] There is no right of way in the streets, drivers observing the UNO y UNO system (cars take their turns coming from all four directions)

[Hopelchen] There are many such traps on the road, I have to be on guard always

[Uxmal] A pretty fat iguana; a pity I did not eat it; in San Cristóbal market they are sold baked

[Mérida] Motorbike airbag of the Mexican variety

[Cancún] Dr. Simi is the mascot of Farmacia Similares pharmacy; he dances and performs in the street and must sweat horribly in that costume
